About Touch of Wood

This past December, 2011, Touch of Wood purchased Elite Engraving & Awards from retiring Barry Stearns and moved the shops to a new location. Our company now offers expanded engraving services, both mechanical and laser engraving and cutting, and expanded manufacturing capabilities. We can now meet all your engraving needs.

Touch Of Wood was registered as a business by husband and wife, Peter and Ann, on February 14, 2000. Originally the company produced custom writing and desk instruments using wood and other exotic materials. Touch Of Wood stopped manufacturing custom writing instruments and accessories, closed our wood shop and moved to our current store front and laser engraving shop at the end of 2002.

The company that had been doing our laser engraving decided to drop the service and we in 2002 we acquired the laser engraving equipment from them and began offering laser engraving services. We soon realized the potential of the equipment, I could fill a a stack of books with what the equipment is capable of, and began expanding our offerings. Today we have a wide range of services and products and are working on new ideas all the time.

Ann and I have seen this our laser engraving and cutting web site grown and evolved since 2000 and has been designed, built and maintained by Peter with input, review and editing by Ann . Many of the products Touch of Wood offers Ann has designed and created. We have expanded our products to include laser engraved photographs, custom wood jewelry and ornaments, wood tokens, including our popular " A Round TUIT", glass jars and cut glass ornaments to our line of customizable gift items as well as offering our laser engraving and cutting services from single piece orders to small production runs.

Touch Of Wood realized early on that there were many creative people out there with nobody to work with on their ideas. Many companies won’t even look at small jobs, never mind a single piece order. Touch Of Wood accepts work from the single piece order to small production runs and each customer receives the same quality and service as the next, regardless of the size of the job. After all, we are here because of you, not the other way around! We are here to help you, and as our customer deserve every courtesy and consideration for your patronage Without you, there would be no Touch Of Wood!

December 5, 2011 Touch of Wood purchased Elite Engraving & Awards from retiring owner Barry Stearns, the original founder. With the merging of the two companies we will be able to offer a full range of engraving services and a wider range of products with the same quality and service both companies are known for.

We like to say; “The only limitation is your own imagination.”

The only thing left to say is… “How may we help you? “

Ann & Pete

About Ann; I run the shop and laser engraving for Touch of Wood and enjoy the wide variety of work that comes through the shop. In my spare time I enjoy gardening and am an avid reader.

I have three cats, the first two are from rescue shelters. My third cat was from a rescue effort of our own. Peter and I rescued a mother and three kittens that were camping out in our back yard. We kept one of the kittens, one other kitten went to a home but the other kitten and the mother were feral and went to live on a farm here in Connecticut.

I also enjoy photography, mostly of my gardens and cats. I enjoy furniture refinishing and woodworking, I have a wood lathe and like making bowls and small vases.

About Peter; My interest in photography began when my parents gave me my first camera at the age of 12. Since that time I have taught myself Black & White and color Photography, Black & Whiter Darkroom work, silk screen cutting, (both by hand and photo screen) and silk screen printing, digital photography and digital photo editing and printing. Many of the examples of Laser Engraved Wood Photographs are from my own photographs.

Other hobbies have included woodworking, landscape design and creation for our home here in Connecticut, electrical wiring and I am an expert welder. I also have an interest in writing, maybe someday I’s actually have the time to pursue that interest!

I encourage everyone to reach in to themselves and tap in to their creative energy. There isn't a better feeling that creating something that comes from within yourself, something nobody else has seen or created, something of the inner beauty I believe we all have and then sharing that beauty with others.
